This is my last installment of a 3-part series on advice and tips for planning an outdoor wedding. Add this list to your general wedding tips and it can seem a little overwhelming, but an outdoor wedding can be pretty amazing and memorable. Friends still talk about my wedding, which was hosted on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. The weather could not have been better and the kids who sung “Here Comes the Bride” from a boat passing by during the ceremony are now a funny memory. The Beauty of NH’s Lakes Region

General News Leave a comment

Many of the brides and grooms we work with choose the Lakes Region for their special day because it holds a sentimental place in their heart. Often they spent their summers as a child on the lake; and maybe they continue to visit as an adult. Regardless, the scenery just can’t be beat. I recently had relatives visit from California and words like ‘lush’ and ‘green’ and ‘scenic’ were common words I heard while we toured the area. As a local I can’t help but be proud of the natural beauty that engulfs this part of the country. Read more

One of Our Favorite NH Wedding Venues

One our favorite wedding venues is The Fells in Newbury, NH. It’s a hidden gem and a spectacular location for a wedding (and we’re not just saying that because we’re a preferred vendor for outdoor weddings). It’s a truly magical place. In addition to an amazing collection of trees, plants and flowers, there are sculptures of animals hidden throughout the extensive grounds. The John Hay Forest Ecology Trail features views of Lake Sunapee and Mt. Sunapee. If you’re in the area you should check it out.

Putting Up a Tent in 60 Seconds

General News, Tents Leave a comment

Our crew would be thrilled if putting up a tent took only 60 seconds. Most of our clients never see the time, labor and attention to detail it takes to get a pole tent up and secured. Then once the tent is up we set up the tables, chairs and lights so everything is ready for “beautification” to begin.

We’d like to share a time lapse video created by a tent rental company in Richmond, VA that shows what it takes to put up a large pole tent. We just tented the Colby Sawyer College graduation a couple of weeks ago — similar size tent and chair set up. Even our guys were amazed by this video and the birds-eye-view of what they go through several times a week. We hope you enjoy the experience.

Renting a Party Tent: Will Your Location Make the Grade?

Tents, Weddings Leave a comment

Whether it’s your backyard, an open field or a designated event site there are some considerations to keep in mind if you’re planning to set up a party tent.

Go High and Dry

The idea spot for a tent is on high, level ground. But that’s not always available. You should, however, plan for the possibility of rain, especially in New Hampshire. Therefore, you should pick a location where rain will not collect. Check the site location after a rainstorm to see if any puddles remain. Most tent rental companies can set up your tent a few days in advance of your event, which will help to keep the area dry if you get a few rain showers before the big day. But if your location is in a low area that collects run off water, no tent can keep the ground from getting soggy.
