One of Our Own Gets Engaged!

I’d like to start off by introducing myself.  My name is Crystal and some of you might recognize my name from calling with a question or an order. I started with the company a year and a half ago and went full time almost a year ago. It is now my chance to be on the other side! Even though I have only been engaged and planning for a short time…I completely empathize as I begin planning my tented wedding at my parents lake house!

To be honest, I have started this blog article quite a few times. It is a little nerve racking…not only am I trying to lend some useful information, I am also trying to give you a glimpse into my wedding planning journey.  The ups the downs and all of the tidbits I learn along the way! That being said, I’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to message me on our Facebook page or e-mail me and let me know if you have any questions or comments.

I would say that I never thought I would get into the ‘Tent and Event’ business, but I am really getting into a groove. Now that I am starting to grasp the numbers, square footage, and equations of tented events I really find joy in meeting people (even over the phone) and helping people build their events from scratch.

When I first started at the company I remember Eric, the owner, saying that we could put together an awesome wedding for me if that day ever came. I am still a little shocked it is here. My man (still hard to change from boyfriend to fiancé!) and I have been together for five years this spring. We met through a mutual friend and really started off as friends. When people ask me how I know if he is ‘the one,’ I tell them that this is the first relationship I have been in that has gotten better with time.

A little bit about the couple –

Casey and I just bought a house last spring. We live with our black lab, Lulu, and grey tiger cat, Brew. We both lead very busy lives, but do the best we can to make time for each other. At the end of January, Casey took me away for a three day weekend and popped the question. I would love to say that I was totally surprised, but I was the bride who got to design her own ring. Not a bad thing! The worst was the eight month wait from designing my bling to getting it on my finger. My romantic weekend away was amazing and for those who know him – ‘So Casey!’

Looking back at my 20s, I had my ‘perfect day’ planned. As I got older, I realized what I envisioned for my wedding day seemed to change. The shift went from more about me to more about the experience.  I am glad to know that with age came decisiveness, because the most normal response I get from Casey now that planning has started is “Up to you babe, you are the one who has dreamed of this day since you were a little girl!” What men don’t realize is, we might dream about it, but actually planning it can be very different!

So I invite you to join me on my wedding planning journey. I hope to spread light on information I have learned from my experience in this business and lessons I learn while I plan my wedding.
